Drier Carpets Mean A Healthier Home

If you have ever used club soda to clean a spot from a shirt, then you have seen carbonation at work. Our cleaning solution, The Natural, is a specially formulated cleaning solution that uses the power of carbonation to lift dirt to the surface, where it is whisked away. This effervescent, carbonated solution is so effective that we only need to use a small amount of moisture to achieve exceptionally clean carpets. In fact, we only use one-fifth to one-tenth as much water as most steam cleaners use, typically leaving your carpets clean and dry in one to two hours, instead of the one to two days you may have experienced with other carpet cleaners. Faster drying is extremely important because the excessive moisture left by some cleaners can become a breeding ground for mold and bacteria.

Cleaning by Chem-Dry of Indianapolis Reduces Returning Spots

Spots that reappear on your carpet after cleaning are usually caused by one of three things:

  1. The spot was not completely removed.

    Although it may appear that a spot is gone after a cleaning, residues may remain that is sticky enough to attract dirt back to the spot. Our technicians are professionally trained to identify this potential problem before it occurs and ensure that the spot is cleaned thoroughly.

  2. Surfactants (soaps and detergents) were used to clean the spot.

    Many carpet cleaning services and household products use surfactants that can attract dirt like a magnet if they aren't completely rinsed from the carpet, causing the spot to reappear faster than ever. Our cleaning solution, The Natural, contains no soaps, detergents, or harsh chemicals; thereby eliminating this problem.

  3. The spot was left too wet.

    Leaving the carpet too wet can cause a problem called wicking. Wicking is a process that happens as the carpet dries, whereby the water rises (or wicks up) to the surface carrying dirt from the backing up with it. As explained above, Chem-Dry of Indianapolis uses much less water than other cleaners, allowing the carpet to dry rapidly without wicking.

Carpet Grooming

The final step of the cleaning process is to properly groom the carpet with a rake or brush to set the pile. Grooming the carpet reduces the drying time by lifting and separating the carpet fibers. A properly groomed carpet will dry with the fibers in an upright position, helping to restore the look and feel of your carpet and reducing the appearance of wear.
